Church napkin. Linen napkin with a rare plain weave 34 warp and weft threads per 1 cm, embroidered with gold thread using pierced stitches. Double-sided embroidery, executed with the same precision on both sides only the letters indicate the right side. Gold thread on a natural-colored silk ground. In the center, in an oval formed by crossed palm branches, the Paschal Lamb with a labarum. Below is the inscription: BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD / S. JOHN in Chapter I. The field is filled with stars rhythmically arranged in nine rows. Small, stylized Persian-style flower sprigs are placed along the edges. Edges are rolled up by approx. 2 mm. 17th century, Poland. Height 79 cm, width 83 cm. Function: church paraments; iconography: Eucharistic Lamb; motifs: flowers, leaves, plant ornaments; sacred art; churches and chapels furnishings., A square, light-colored cloth laid flat against a pale gray background, showing a repeating decorative motif of small star-like floral shapes and corner floral sprigs embroidered in a darker brownish tone, with a larger central wreath enclosing a small animal figure rendered in the same brownish embroidery; the cloth has visible fold lines and a few small discoloration spots, and a small tag attached near one upper corner.
