Lace fragment — shuttlecock, purchase provenance; fashion; clothing accessories. Needle lace and bobbin lace with shuttlecocks; tiny spiders — needlework and bobbin ornament elements on factory-made tulle. Floral ornament with a large repeat. Serrated lower edge with stylized feathery leaves and flower calyces; above them floral bouquets and flower projections. 1st half of the 19th century, France. Lace; width 39 cm, length 328 cm., A delicate off-white lace panel lies flat against a muted gray background, showing an intricate floral and foliate pattern worked in fine thread. The lace features a scalloped lower edge with ornate curved motifs and a few decorative circular medallions, while the field above contains a group of stylized flowers, leaves, and tendrils arranged in flowing sprays and connected by slender stems. Several areas display denser embroidered clusters contrasting with open net-like sections, and there are some tiny imperfections and loose threads along the top edge. The visible colors are off-white for the lace and gray for the background.
