Lace fragment — shuttlecock; lace; clothing accessory; fashion. Lower edge: semicircular serrations bordered with fine serrations with geometric ornament. From the semicircular serrations upwards: a repeating floral ornament with a twig motif in triangular divisions. Above this, a small twig in a regular projection. Mid-19th century, France. Lace. Width 42 cm, length 430 cm., A long strip of delicate lace fabric laid flat against a gray background, showing a scalloped lower edge with an ornate floral embroidery pattern in off-white and cream tones, a repeated small floral motif across the body of the lace in similar off-white and cream, areas of frayed and uneven raw upper edge with some small holes, a few irregular darker brownish stains on the left and slightly toward the right, and several small irregular holes and worn spots scattered across the mesh.
