The pattern is created by wavy ribbons with fan-shaped bouquets of small flowers surrounded by a serrated collar. The background is filled with small, curling flowers. The columns are trimmed with wide gold galloon; the edges of the chasuble are narrower. Linen lining, pink. 1st quarter of the 18th century, France. Liturgical vestment. Maker, A single ornate vestment displayed flat, shaped with a rounded lower edge and a narrower top opening, made of a lustrous beige silk ground with panels of patterned brocade; the brocade panels show floral and foliate motifs in pale green and soft pink on a light beige background, framed and edged by wide gold trim and narrow gold bands; the outer fabric appears a muted beige or tan with a subtle sheen, and the overall color palette includes beige, gold, pale green, and soft pink.
