Lace fragment, lace strip finished with flat arched teeth on one side and straight on the other; in the divisions corresponding to the teeth, an alternating flower calyx and a rhombus motif are placed, separated by parenthetical geometric forms. 18th century, France. Materials: lace, fabric. Width 17.5 cm, length 308 cm., A scalloped textile border with an open net background in shades of gold and muted gray fills the image, featuring a repeating pattern of ornate embroidered motifs including curved paisley-like shapes, diamond lattice forms, and floral elements, all rendered in metallic gold threads; the scalloped lower edge has denser gold stitching and fringe, while the upper edge shows loose thread ends and a finer net border, and the neutral gray backdrop contrasts with the shimmering gold embroidery throughout.
