Lace fragment, lace strip finished with flat arched teeth on one side and straight on the other; in the divisions corresponding to the teeth an alternating flower calyx and a rhombus motif are placed, separated by parenthetical geometric forms. 18th century, France; fabric; width 17.5 cm, length 308 cm., A length of patterned lace fabric laid flat showing a scalloped lower edge and an upper straight edge, with an open net ground and larger embroidered motifs integrated into the mesh. The lace features a repeating design of curved scroll-like shapes and floral-inspired clusters, with denser textured stitching outlining the motifs and small decorative openwork areas at intervals. The fabric appears delicate with some loose threads and frayed edges visible along the top and bottom. The visible colors in the image are gold tones for the lace against a neutral gray background, with slight variations in the gold where stitching density changes.
