Lace fragment, lace strip finished with flat arched teeth on one side and straight on the other; in the divisions corresponding to the teeth an alternating flower calyx and a rhombus motif are placed, separated by parenthetical geometric forms. 18th century, France. Materials: lace, fabric. Dimensions: width 17.5 cm, length 308 cm., A horizontal strip of delicate lace with a floral and scrolling pattern lies against a flat background; the lace shows a repeating design of flower motifs and sinuous scrolls connected by a fine net ground, with scalloped lower edges and some frayed threads and worn areas; visible colors include shades of muted gold and beige in the lace and a cool gray background.
