In the divisions corresponding to the teeth, an alternating flower calyx and a rhombus motif are placed, separated by parenthetical geometric forms. 18th century, France. Material: fabric, lace; width 17.5 cm, length 308 cm., A narrow strip of lace with a scalloped lower edge and a straight upper edge, featuring a repeating embroidered pattern of ornamental shapes and floral motifs; the lace is primarily gold and appears set against a gray background, with areas of fine netting and denser embroidered sections forming curved S-shaped scrolls, diamond-like lattice elements, and stylized flower clusters; the gold thread shows slight variations in sheen and texture, and there are a few loose threads and frayed edges visible along the top and at one end.
