Lace fragment, lace, 2nd half of the 18th century, possibly Flanders, fabric, width 7.5 cm, length 35 cm., A long, narrow, irregularly shaped openwork piece made of metallic thread in gold tones laid flat against a smooth light gray background, with tangled loops and braided strands forming a loose network and a few denser woven patches, frayed loose ends and wispy threads extending from the edges, and subtle variations in the gold appearance where the threads catch the light.
