Fabric fragment, fragments of silk patterned fabrics, yellow silk damask, embroidered and brocaded with fanciful plant decoration. Damask substructure, satin with warp and grosgrain; decoration embellished with white weft and colored wefts. Elongated, frayed leaves form a background for smaller fanciful flowers brocaded with colored threads. Colors: white and yellow background. Embroidery with colored threads: sea green, light pink, dark pink, gold metallic thread. Edge width selvage: 0.3 cm; selvage made of thicker yellow threads. Early 18th century, Europe. Fabrics, height 44 cm, width 25 cm., A rectangular piece of worn fabric with frayed edges laid flat against a dark background, showing a faded pattern and several areas of damage and loose threads; the fabric is primarily yellow with lighter beige areas and small touches of purple and blue in places, and there are darker brownish stains and irregular discolored spots across the surface.
