Double-sided gingerbread mould. Obverse: image of a trumpeter on a horse; Reverse: horse-drawn carriage. Double-sided, rectangular mould; on one side, a horseman in a parade uniform from the Napoleonic era playing a trumpet, dressed in a long caftan with epaulettes and braid, trousers with a stripe and long boots; the horse bears a decorative row and a saddle decorated with a floral motif; below is an extensive ornament of flowers, leaves and geometric motifs. On the other side: a two-wheeled covered horse-drawn carriage with a driver on the box wearing a caftan and a high hat; one horse harnessed to the carriage; below is an extensive ornament of geometric and plant motifs. On one edge an engraved inscription: j. Glauer.1828: No 1 signature of the manufacturer or owner of the mould, and the date; on the other edge the inscription: Zum. Andenken. Dated 1828. Materials/function: gingerbread mould, decorative art; motifs include carriages, horse rider iconography, male figures, historical costumes, military uniforms, floral and plant ornaments, folk motifs. Place/region: Province of Silesia. Dimensions: height 42.7 cm, width 24.3 cm, depth 3.7 cm., A carved wooden panel shows a relief scene of a horse pulling a covered wagon with a seated driver; the horse and figures are rendered in low relief with carved details on harness, mane, and decorative elements on the wagon and wheels. The panel has an overall brown wood color with variations in tone from darker brown in carved recesses to slightly lighter brown on worn surfaces, and there are small areas of grayish wear and minor scratches. The wagon canopy displays a textured, patterned carving and the wheels are circular with spoke details; the base of the panel features carved border motifs and stylized foliage elements in front of the horse.
