Double-sided gingerbread mould. Obverse: image of Madonna and Child; reverse: small image of Madonna in an oval. Double-sided, rectangular form; on one side a figure of Madonna and Child, with a crown on her head, in a long patterned robe decorated with various geometric and plant motifs; the Madonna holds the Child in her left hand and a sword in her right. The other side: a smaller figure of the Madonna in an oval, surrounded by rays and a laurel wreath. Materials/function: gingerbread mould; style: decorative folk/religious motifs. Iconography: Madonna and Child, crown, sword, wreaths. Date: 19th century. Place: Silesia Province of Silesia, 1742–1918. Dimensions: height 25.8 cm, width 12 cm, depth 4.5 cm., A rectangular wooden panel carved in brown shows a raised relief of a robed figure holding a smaller robed figure; the larger figure wears a crown and both figures have stylized curled hair and carved halo shapes behind their heads. The robes and surrounding areas feature carved swirling and linear patterns, dots, and scalloped decorative borders. The panel surface has visible wood grain, small dents, scratches, and a few darker spots and areas of wear. The background around the panel is a flat gray.
