Double-sided gingerbread mould. Side A: figure of a lady in a decorative, pleated dress from the beginning of the 19th century, holding a bouquet of roses. Side B: stylised fish covered with scales shown in profile. Rectangular wooden mould, double-sided. On the edge an engraved date 1808 with the letter S against the background of an anchor mark of the woodcarver or gingerbread maker. Materials: wood; function: gingerbread mould. Subject motifs: female figure in rich dress, flowers, fish, zoomorphic and folk motifs; style: decorative/fairly folk. Dimensions: height 19.8 cm, width 7.3 cm, depth 4 cm. Origin: Silesia Province of Silesia; 1742–1918, dated 1808. Maker: unknown woodcarver or gingerbread maker., A rectangular block of wood shown upright with a carved recessed fish motif on its front face, the wood displaying grain patterns and worn areas; the carved fish has a head, eye, detailed overlapping scale texture along its body, and a tail with carved fin lines, and there are areas of surface wear and slight chipping on edges; the visible colors include brown tones of the wood, darker brown in the carved recess, small areas of yellowish wear, and a neutral gray background.
