Double-sided gingerbread mould. Obverse: four motifs — at the top a female figure in a long patterned dress with a low neckline; below, a basket of flowers; below that, a seated young naked man with long hair sitting among flowers and smoking a pipe; at the feet of the figure a skull with crossbones and the inscription MEMENTO MORI; at the very bottom a wreath woven from leaves and flowers. Reverse: five images of infants in patterned swaddling clothes. Materials/subject: gingerbread mould, gingerbread, decorative art; motifs: wreaths, female figures in rich dresses, Transience personification, floral decorations, allegorical representations, infants, folk motifs. Double-sided, rectangular mould. 19th century. Province of Silesia 1742–1918. Dimensions: height 36.5 cm; width 8.8 cm; depth 1.5 cm. /origin., A long rectangular wooden board rests on a light gray surface, showing a medium brown wood tone with darker brown carved recessed shapes along its length; the board has worn edges and small scratches, and the carvings include a few ornate reliefs with rounded and floral-like forms, some textured areas, and a circular recessed area at one end; the overall colors visible are brown, medium brown, dark brown, light gray, and a hint of beige in the wood grain.
