Double-sided, rectangular mould: on one side a figure of a soldier in a parade uniform from the beginning of the 19th century, wearing a high shako decorated with a tassel, epaulettes and decorative sleeves, an order pinned to the chest, a sabre with decorative tassel at the leg; bottom geometric and plant decoration. The other side: baby in swaddling clothes richly decorated with geometric and plant ornament. On the edge an engraved letter B—the initial of the woodcarver or gingerbread maker. 19th century. Form. Height 35.3 cm; width 11.6 cm; depth 3.5 cm., A tall rectangular wooden panel carved in brown wood shows a stylized wrapped figure in relief; the top features a round face with carved eyes, nose, and mouth surrounded by a floral halo of small carved flower shapes, and below the head a wrapped body with diagonal bands of carved lace-like and wavy patterns leads down to a tied bow and a fan-shaped carved element at the bottom; the background is the same brown wood, and the surrounding area visible in the image is a pale gray.
