Double-sided gingerbread mould. Side A: image of a bachelor; Side B: baby in swaddling clothes. Maker unknown woodcarver or gingerbread maker. Double-sided rectangular mould. One side shows a man in a long wig and tricorn hat, dressed in costume probably dating from the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries — justaucorps with decorative cuffs, culottes, stockings, and high-heeled shoes; at his feet floral and geometric decorative motifs and the date 1827. Other side depicts a baby in swaddling clothes richly decorated with geometric and plant ornament. Inscription on the edge: FW FIEBIGER. a. BAUTZEN. 17 signature of the manufacturer and beginning of the date. Materials: wood. Motifs: folk motifs, plant ornaments, floral decorations, male figure, babies, historical costume. Date: 1827. Place: Bautzen, Silesia Prussia; 1742–1918. Function: gingerbread mould. Dimensions: height 64 cm, width 22.5 cm, depth 4.3 cm., A long rectangular wooden block rests on a pale gray surface against a mid-gray background; the block is brown with visible wood grain and a carved recessed figure along its top surface showing a head with textured hair and a long ornate patterned garment ending in a scalloped shape, and the block shows small worn spots and slight edge wear.
