Fragment of upholstery fabric, silk and cotton brocade with cream grosgrain plain-weave background, brocaded in colorful threads and metal threads. Floral and fantastic motifs: winding twigs with fanciful flowers and plumes of leaves resembling bird wings; patterned fabric with preserved selvedge. Colors: red, dark and light pink, dark and light brown, damp green, blue, silver metal thread, copper metal thread. Dimensions: height approx. 64–71 cm, width 32 cm; edge width 0.9 cm. Possibly French, 18th century ca. 1760–1777 or early 19th century influence., A rectangular piece of fabric with frayed edges laying on a dark background, showing a patterned surface with floral and abstract woven motifs in shades of cream, beige, brown, gold, rust, red, pink, purple, gray, and green; several clustered flower-like shapes and leaf forms are woven into the cloth, along with textured vertical and curved bands that appear distressed or worn in places, and a few loose threads visible around the borders.
