Weave construction: two-color warps olive and white. Background: derivative of a plain weave olive with a sub-ornament promoted with olive warp threads and sparse weft interlacing a type of grodetur. Pattern: derivative of a plain weave white wefts. Decoration: symmetrical in a mirror-like arrangement with axis of symmetry at center of the panel; branches of stylized flowers dominated by large, blooming peonies; sub-ornament features floral and lace motifs. Colors: olive background, white motifs. Wefts: white and olive. Warps: white and olive; leading—olive. Panel width: ?; edge width: 0.4. Report: height 40 cm, width ?; 1st half of the 18th century, France ; fabrics, height 65 cm, width 24 cm., A rectangular piece of patterned fabric with a floral damask design laid against a dark background; the fabric shows a large repeating flower and leaf motif in shades of gold and beige with areas of lighter beige creating contrast, and a narrower strip of similar patterned fabric attached at one end showing some frayed edges and worn areas; the dark background appears nearly black.
