Patterned silk fabric fragment, early 18th century, France. Two-color damask with stylized leaves in a stripe weave structure; pale red warp satin background overlaid with plain and liseré weaves and accented by a white patterning weft tied in a weft weave; reverse in plain weave. Unilateral two-color damask; motifs of small flowers, fanciful leaves, and miniature lace-inspired motifs forming ornaments on the leaves—patterns in a bizarre fabric type inspired by lace. Repeat dimensions exceed the preserved fragment. Hem width: 0.5 cm. Dimensions: height 53 cm, width 19 cm. Fabric fragment no. SZT 78 is probably part of the same fabric., A worn, torn fabric fragment with a floral and paisley woven pattern lies against a dark background; the textile shows frayed edges and irregular cuts, with decorative motifs including stylized flowers and curved leaf shapes visible across its surface. The colors visible are shades of beige, tan, brown, and a lighter pale metallic tone that appears as a light silvery-beige. The fabric has areas of contrasting weave that create subtle sheen and texture differences, and some loose fibers and small holes are present along the top and bottom edges.
