Women's slippers by Wincenty Witoszynski Warsaw; shoemaker's workshop; ca. 1840–ca. 1850. Shallow, flat women's slippers made of white silk. Symmetrical soles of thin leather with straight-cut toes. Lining: front of white canvas, back of thin white leather. Inside, an octagonal company label glued in: Wincenty Witoszynski / in Warsaw / at Senatorska Street next to the Main Town Hall No. 463. Upper part is machine-sewn. Date: 1840–1850, place of origin: Warsaw. Materials/typology: footwear, clothing. Dimensions: height 5.3 cm, width 5.3 cm, length 23.2 cm., A pair of pointed, slip-on shoes made of a shiny, smooth fabric in a pale ivory or cream color sit on a neutral light-gray background; the shoes show areas of slight discoloration and wear, with inner linings in an off-white or beige tone and slightly rougher fabric at the heels, and the soles appear to be a thin brown material visible along the edges.
