Fabric fragment. Cream silk damask fabric, embroidered and brocaded with colorful threads. Promoting threads: green, light and dark salmon. Brooching thread: gold. Pale cream satin background with weft weave coverings, embroidery, and brocade. Fantastical floral decoration: small twigs and leaves of the damask sub-report complement larger motifs brocaded with gold threads. Stylized pomegranates pineapples placed on a winding stem, surrounded by sprigs of smaller flowers. Fabric sewn from two pieces. Composition of the report motifs based on mirror symmetry. Weave: satin weave with warp coverage; pattern creating a sub-report in a plain weave; colorful pattern promoted in zones; promoting threads tied in a twill weave introduced two at a time in the interlacing. Date: 1710–1715. Place of origin: France. Materials: silk, metal thread. Dimensions: height 33 cm, width 33.5 cm., A rectangular piece of fabric with frayed edges resting on a dark background shows an ornate floral and foliate woven pattern. The fabric's base color is a light beige or cream, and the pattern includes shades of muted green, soft peach, pale gold, and touches of off-white. A large stylized flower motif appears toward the right, with surrounding leaves and scrolling vines extending across the surface; similar floral elements repeat on the left side. Several areas show worn or pulled threads and small places where the weave is distressed, including a vertical worn strip near the top center. The textile surface has a subtle sheen from the woven threads, and loose stray fibers project from the top and bottom edges.
