Figural tapestry. In the foreground, on the right, on a throne under a canopy sit two male figures in hats; in front of them stands a woman, behind her a small child, and another woman kneeling. Around them are other figures of women and armed men. In the background is a mountain landscape. Border with plant motifs and female figures; in the upper and lower centers are medallions with small scenes. Colors: green, sand, blue, gray, yellow. 4–5 warps per 1 cm, 10 wefts per 1 cm; wool, silk, wool warp, tapestry technique, numerous visible chains—also used in connecting shades of leaves small color fields and stitched technical slits. 16th century, Flanders. Height 338 cm, width 462 cm., A large rectangular textile is shown with a wide tan border surrounding a central area divided into vertical strips; the border and backing fabric are light brown and beige with visible creases and stitched seams. Within the border there are a few narrow vertical panels of richly colored woven scenes featuring a mix of deep green, blue, muted gold, brown, and hints of red and cream. The woven panels contain figures and foliage rendered in faded tones, with some areas showing wear and small patches where fabric overlays or repairs in lighter beige are visible. The overall surface shows texture variations, wrinkling, and subtle discoloration across the tan and colored areas.
