Colors: green, red, blue, yellow, brown, ochre, and cream. 2nd half 19th century, Germany; fabrics; height 265 cm, width 395 cm, A large rectangular woven tapestry hung flat against a light background, showing a wooded landscape scene with a central group of tall trees with green and olive foliage and brown trunks, surrounded by grassy and shrubby undergrowth in shades of brown, tan, green, and muted blue. Along the edges, a decorative border appears with warmer tones of red, gold, and orange and touches of pink and green, with a narrow dark blue outer trim. In the lower area there are hints of brighter red and blue woven elements among the foliage, and the overall surface shows loose, frayed fibers and textured areas in beige and tan that create a worn, fibrous appearance. The top and bottom edges reveal a lighter beige selvedge and small fabric tabs.
