Fabric fragment, 17th century, Italy, warp-woven satin background with pale red silk warp and two alternating wefts white and yellow creating the pattern using the lisère technique; brooching wefts in green and beige; high fabric tightness. SATIN WITH A TWO-COLOR WEFT, LISÉRE. Construction: floating runs in diagonal, fairly wide bands. Pattern report length 29 x width 17.5 cm. Floral motifs in three types arranged at close intervals: two kinds of carnations rows facing left or right, tulips with drooping calyxes, and roses with spread petals, with smaller flower projections scattered between them facing in different directions. Colors of flowers and elements vary — white and yellow stems and leaves, green and beige calyxes. Fragments of silk patterned fabric, height 112 cm, width 28.5 cm., A long, narrow piece of worn fabric with an irregular top edge and frayed sides, patterned with a repeating floral motif; the fabric's base color is a muted reddish-brown with floral elements in shades of pale gold, cream, and muted green, and the surface shows tears and holes, areas of threadbare wear, and loose threads along the edges.
