Habit à la française, Repossession provenance. Floral and plant motifs; fashion clothing: men's 18th-century garment. Green silk habit embroidered with small bouquets of flowers. Fitted at the top, widened at the back from the waist down with two slit pleats. Fastens at the front with hooks and eyes. Semicircularly cut lapels overlap at breast level and are cut off at the bottom. High standing collar. Long sleeves set in at elbow height, cut in an arc, finished with wide, slightly protruding cuffs. Side pockets at hip level covered with trapezoidal flaps. Back cut with a center seam; slits at hip level; center back flaps meet without a pleat. Embroidery in a wide band around edges, cuffs, pockets, collar, and back pleats. Decorative buttons sewn in threes on cuffs, under pocket flaps, two at top of back flaps, and in pressed pleats. 1770s, Silesia; France origin/creation.
