Kontusz from the uniform of the Order of St. Stanislaus. Kontusz of white cloth with lapels of crimson, gold-embroidered grosgrain, edges trimmed with gold braid. Fitted at the top, flared at the bottom, fastened at the front with hooks. The lapels do not meet at the top, creating a triangular neckline, finished with a high, standing, turn-down collar. The back is cut with a central pillar of fabric, widened on the sides from the waist by semi-flared pleats. Pockets in the side seams. Crimson grosgrain brocaded with braided thread and silk threads; gold stripes on a crimson background and miniature sprigs of stylized flowers. Gold galloon Slutsk or Grodno, 1780s, Poland. Clothing, national costume. Length 126 cm; width at bottom 325 cm., A long coat displayed on a black mannequin, made of a pale beige fabric with a slightly textured surface, featuring a standing collar and wide front opening edged with a narrow decorative trim in darker brown and muted green tones with small mottled areas of rusty orange and faded yellow; the same decorative trim appears along the edges of the sleeves and pocket openings, and the sleeves hang slightly loose and tapered toward the cuffs, which show the inner darker trim; the background is a neutral gray.
