Two-piece robe à la française dress, silk in the colour of dried rose with motifs of colourful flower bouquets and winding white lace ribbons. Overskirt manteau open at the front, with a triple pleat extending almost the full width of the back and forming a train. Bodice on linen lace with boning, laced at the front; deep square neckline. Narrow elbow-length set-in sleeves trimmed with ruffles of the same fabric. Neckline and bodice edges trimmed with a pleated ruffle decorated with multicolored cord trimmings twisted into tiny flowers. No lining. Skirt gathered with symmetrical pleats and spread to the sides. Patterned fabric with floral ornaments, ribbon ornaments and flower-bouquet motifs. Ruffles and other clothing decoration. Fabric report: height 24.5 cm, width 48.5 cm; width of fabric piece 54 cm. Date: 1760–1765. Place of use: Silesia; probable origin: France. Length: 158 cm., Women's fashion, 18th century., A worn garment laid flat showing an inner lining of coarse beige fabric and an outer layer of faded pinkish-brown brocade with floral motifs and metallic highlights; the sleeves are gathered and flared with decorative trim and frayed edges, and the neckline and armholes show visible stitching and small holes; the outer fabric displays areas of wear, patches of darker discoloration, and scattered raised floral patterns in greens, reds, and pale metallic tones against the pinkish-brown ground.
