Vest, floral and plant ornaments, patterned fabrics. Predominant ornamental colors: silver, plum, green, and raspberry. Front of brocaded silk fabric with motifs arranged around the edges. Fastened with 12 buttons embroidered with gold thread. No collar. Side flaps with flapped pockets, three buttons under the flaps as for the closure. Back: bottom and sides of fabric as on the front, but the cut-out pieces are plain without brocade. Cream silk lining. Dated 1740–1760. Origin: England, and Silesia. Garment, length 74 cm., A single sleeveless garment laid flat showing an off-white or beige fabric with an embroidered floral border along one edge featuring a mix of colors including green leaves, purple and mauve blossoms, blue flowers, and orange-red blooms, with additional grayish foliate scrollwork woven into the background; the garment has a rounded armhole revealing an inner lining in a brownish tan tone and a pointed extension at one end that displays the same floral pattern and a few small rounded fasteners.
