Vest, Repossession provenance. Floral and plant ornaments; patterned brocaded silk fabric, predominant colors: silver, plum, green, and raspberry. Front: motifs arranged around the edges; fastened with 12 buttons embroidered with gold threads; no collar; side flaps with flapped pockets, three buttons under the flaps for closure. Back: bottom and sides of fabric as on the front, but cut-out pieces are plain without brocade. Cream silk lining. Dated 1740–1760. Origin: England fabric possibly, Silesia. Garment; length 74 cm., A garment laid flat showing the interior and decorative outer panels, primarily cream and beige, with a few areas of light brown lining; the outer panels feature an embroidered floral pattern with green leaves, blue flowers, purple flowers, and red or coral flowers, along with grayish fern-like motifs; the embroidery appears along the edges and around the arm openings, forming flowing curved shapes; the central interior section is plain beige with a few small buttonhole openings and stitching lines, and there are pocket-like fabric panels near the lower center in a pale cream; the overall composition shows smooth woven fabric with detailed colored needlework in green, blue, purple, red, gray, cream, beige, and light brown.
