Vest made of cream silk grosgrain, straight cut, collarless, with flaps, fastened with covered buttons at the bottom marked by pocket flaps. Richly embroidered front, laced canvas back, silk lining. Embroidery background with small floral motifs; along the fastening are flower sprigs and grass. Chains around the pockets; above the pockets are flowers, a fragment of a stork's nest, and a seagull. Sea vegetation and shells adorn the pocket trim. Beneath the pockets is a fragment of a seascape: two three-masted ships with a small ship in the background. Flat embroidery using satin, laid, and knotted stitches; untwisted and twisted silk yarn. Predominant colors: green, gray, and salmon. 1780s, Silesia and France origin, garment, length 70 cm., The image shows an embroidered scene on pale fabric featuring a large sailing ship with tall masts and rigging, several small flags in blue and pink, and sails rendered in muted beige and brown threads; the ship is set on a golden-brown water area with reflections, surrounded by rocky shorelines embroidered in shades of brown and gray with green and yellow foliage; a few birds stitched in brown fly in the pale sky; decorative stitched borders and circular button-like elements in cream, brown, and blue appear along the left edge, and a rectangular embroidered panel with floral motifs in green, brown, and muted red sits above the ship.
