Doily, doilies, decorative fabric, lace, embroidery. Round doily sewn from two pieces of machine lace, bobbin lace, and fabric with colorful petit point embroidery. Five medallions are arranged in the central circle, each surrounded by bobbin lace, with four oval lace medallions with floral branches between the medallions. Mid-19th century, Europe. Fabric, lace; diameter 115 cm., A circular textile with a central round medallion and a symmetrical arrangement of smaller round motifs, all set within concentric ornamental bands; the piece features intricate lacework and embroidered floral designs, with scalloped floral frames around the round motifs, interlaced ribbon-like patterns connecting them, and leaf-and-vine motifs filling oval spaces; the colors visible are cream, beige, gold, brown, green, pink, and red; the outermost edge shows a decorative woven border, followed by a wide pleated or gathered band, then a fine netted area leading into the central embellished section.
