Five medallions are arranged in the central circle, each surrounded by bobbin lace, with four oval lace medallions with floral branches between the medallions. Mid-19th century, Europe. Fabric, lace; diameter 115 cm., A circular textile with a central round medallion and a symmetrical arrangement of smaller round motifs, all set within concentric ornamental bands; the piece features intricate lacework and embroidered floral designs, with scalloped floral frames around the round motifs, interlaced ribbon-like patterns connecting them, and leaf-and-vine motifs filling oval spaces; the colors visible are cream, beige, gold, brown, green, pink, and red; the outermost edge shows a decorative woven border, followed by a wide pleated or gathered band, then a fine netted area leading into the central embellished section.
