Velum sewn from scarlet satin, embroidered with silk yarn and metal threads. In the center, a heart-shaped medallion features the letters IHS and a cross, with stylized floral sprigs on the sides. In the corners and along the sides are varied stylized flower bushes. The edges are trimmed with narrow gold braid. The lining is made of silk fabric brocaded with motifs of twigs and flowers and fruit growing from them on a light background. 18th century, Poland; liturgical vestment; height 49 cm, width 52 cm., A square piece of fabric with a pale beige background patterned with a repeating botanical design in shades of blue and muted green, showing curved branches with stylized flowers and round fruit-like forms; the fabric has a narrow red edging visible along two sides and a vertical seam where a narrower panel joins the main piece; the surface shows areas of sheen, slight wrinkling, and small irregularities in texture.
