Fragment of a cashmere shawl. Its ending features two types of stylized palmette motifs, some similar to a double bota. It is surrounded on three sides by a narrow border with a leafy tendril motif, and at the bottom by another band with an arcade motif. Likely a product of Kashmiri workshops. 19th century, India. Dimensions: length 78.5 cm, width 143 cm., A patterned textile showing a repeating ornate paisley-like design with sweeping curved teardrop shapes and scrolls, featuring a few large floral motifs integrated into the paisley forms and a decorative narrow border along the top edge; the main field has a dark background while the pattern is rendered in shades of orange, yellow, green, and touches of pale blue and pink, with dense small dot and line detailing creating an overall intricate, stitched appearance.
