Background of cream satin. Around the central embroidery, a wide border partly embroidered and partly appliquéd with cuttings, with a motif of flowers, twigs and leaves among the ribbon ornament. The lower edge is serrated. 1743, Poland. Fabrics; height 123 cm, width 105 cm., A large rectangular textile with a pale beige background featuring an ornate embroidered border and central scene, showing a group of human figures and angelic figures among billowing cloud-like shapes; colors visible include beige, cream, gold, brown, dark gray, blue, green, red, pink, and black. The border contains scrolling vine and floral motifs in gold, brown, green, and touches of red and blue, with repeated rounded decorative elements along the lower edge forming scalloped lobes. The central area shows layered fabric and embroidered shading suggesting drapery and cloud forms in dark gray, blue, brown, and gold, and several human faces and limbs with flesh tones and pink highlights partially visible within the composition. There are areas of wear and patching where the underlying fabric tone and stitched repairs are visible, and the overall textile surface has a slightly wrinkled and aged appearance.
