Pattern created by thicker and thinner embroidered stripes, a lace ribbon winding in the background brocaded with white weft, and larger and smaller bouquets of roses brocaded with colored wefts. Colors: pink-blue background blue and pink warp. Brocading: white, celadon, pale green, pale anguere, brownish-brown, grass green. Warp embellishments: white, blue, graphite. Sub-weft embellished with white weft. Selvedge width 0.7 cm; piece width 54 cm; pattern repeat 54 x 38.5 cm. 18th century, France. Height 67 cm, width 54 cm., A worn rectangular piece of fabric with irregular edges laid on a dark background, showing a faded pale gray-beige ground with a repeating floral pattern; several clusters of small flowers in muted greens, blues, pinks, and cream are scattered across the surface, accompanied by slender leafy stems in olive and sage tones; there are horizontal bands of slightly lighter beige with ribbed texture running across the fabric, and a few thin pale stitched lines separating areas; the textile surface shows creases, small tears, and darker smudges and stains in brown and faint reddish tones, with some areas of surface abrasion revealing slightly darker underlayers.
