Tapestry, Fabric fragment: the entire background is densely strewn with motifs of small flowering plants. At the right edge, a medallion with an urban landscape inside; its border forms a dense wreath of flowers and grotesques. At the upper edge, a preserved fragment of a border with motifs of large flowers, fruit, and leaves. Colors: black background, red, green, blue, beige, and yellow ornamentation. Millefleurs tapestry, late 16th century, Flanders. Height 168 cm, width 154 cm., A rectangular textile with a dense floral pattern in brown, green, red, blue, cream, and yellow tones fills most of the image, with a wide horizontal floral border along the top featuring larger flower and leaf motifs in blue, red, cream, and yellow; near the upper left quadrant a circular medallion contains a small pastoral scene surrounded by a wreath-like border of stylized flowers and leaves in blue, cream, red, and yellow, and the interior of the medallion shows a cluster of small buildings and landscape elements in muted blues, greens, creams, and browns; the textile shows areas of wear and small losses revealing frayed edges and underlying backing in neutral tones.
