Weave: background in a grosgrain weave with texture enriched by released weft threads creating a complementary ornament liseré; brocaded with colored threads. Pattern: projections of small stylized flower sprigs with large, fantastic blooms; flowers arranged in horizontal and vertical rows, changing direction with each row. Colors: white background ornament; white, lemon, orange, celadon, olive. Repeat: 9.5 x 16.5 cm. Date: 1740–1760. Place of origin: France. Object type: fabric. Height 29 cm; width 22.5 cm., A rectangular piece of fabric with a pale beige background featuring a repeating motif of stylized floral shapes in shades of yellow, gold, brown, and a muted red, each floral accompanied by small leaf-like elements in brown and olive tones; subtle woven or embossed swirls and texture in a slightly lighter beige are visible across the background; frayed edges and loose threads are visible along the fabric borders, and a narrow dark border appears along one side.
