Tapestry, Tapestry embroidered in wool and silk on linen canvas. In the upper part, within a decorative cartouche, is the bust of a nobleman King Jan III Sobieski? with a mustache and shaved hair, wearing a zupan and delia with an ermine collar. Around it are dense scrolls of large leaves, flowers, and fruit. No border. Vivid colors: brown background, sapphire blue, blue, red, pink, green, navy blue, white, and ochre. The plant motifs of the nine fabrics comprising this set do not differ from each other. Stylized leaves, flowers, and fruit fill the entire surface. The composition unfolds on both sides of the axis, creating a symmetrical division of the decoration, similar to large-pattern silk upholstery fabrics fashionable in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Minor differences include small animal silhouettes which enrich the decoration. All fabrics are decorated with the same fruit: plump bunches of black and white grapes, yellow apples, and dark red cherries. Height 295 cm, width 61.5 cm., A long narrow textile panel features an intricate symmetrical design filled with stylized floral and foliate motifs and a painted portrait medallion near the top. The panel shows a variety of colors including deep blue, bright yellow, red, pink, green, cream, brown, and touches of black and white. The top medallion contains a human face with pale skin tones and dark hair, framed by ornamental scroll shapes in golden yellow and brown. Below and throughout the panel are repeating arrangements of curling leaves, acanthus-like forms, large rounded flowers, and clustered berry shapes rendered in combinations of blue, yellow, red, pink, cream, green, and brown.
