Church banner. Church banner decorated with appliqué and embroidery. Made from fabric elements that form the basis for architectural decoration for figures sewn using the appliqué intarsia method onto a red one side and beige other background. Right side: in the centre of the panel in the neo-Gothic arcade, between two towers, a figure of Mary and Child floating on clouds. Left side: in a similar architectural frame that is an already woven pattern, a figure of the bishop in pontifical robes St. Nicholas . Colors: the panel with the figure of Mary is sand-colored, the panel with the bishop is cherry red. The figure of Mary is appliquéd from smaller fragments of velvet fabrics, fragments of patterned silks, paillettes, and beads. The banner's edge is trimmed with gold fringe. The fabric with the arcade has a satin background, embellished and brocaded with metal thread. 19th century, Poland. Materials: fabrics; height 147 cm, width 102 cm., A rectangular embroidered textile panel with fringed edges featuring a central archway motif in metallic thread and a beige background; within the arch, a robed female figure in brown and gold holding a smaller figure dressed in white and gold who stands on a blue spherical object, both figures positioned above stylized white and gray cloud shapes; the arch and surrounding tall, ornate vertical structures are richly worked in gold and muted pink threads with intricate lattice and floral patterns; the border includes gold decorative trim and scalloped lower edge with additional gold embroidery; overall colors visible are beige, gold, brown, white, gray, blue, and muted pink.
