In four fields: 1 Eagle with a crown — Polish; 2 Three crowns — Swedish; 3 Pogon — Lithuanian; 4 Gryf — Ruthenian. Shield topped with a crown and a bishop's hat. Possible owners: John Albert Snopek coat of arms, Bishop of Kraków, cardinal, died 1634; Jan Kazimierz Snopek coat of arms, elected King of Poland 1648, abdicated 1668, titular cardinal; or Ferdynand Vasa, brother of Jan Kazimierz. Embroidery background: linen canvas with silk satin in red and blue applied to canvas. Embroidery on a backing of various heights made of linen threads. Flat and convex embroidery with metal threads: silver and gold plate braided on silk yarn; drawn wire in silver and gold; bullions of drawn wire and narrow gold plate. Silk embroidery in satin and knot stitch. Attributed to E. Soszko; ca. 17th century, Poland. Materials: fabrics; height 16 cm., An irregularly shaped, worn textile or paper object with a central brownish-gray area and a few darker brown patches, surrounded by frayed edges and attached by braided cords to a group of dangling, tear-shaped pieces; the cords appear greenish-gray and the dangling pieces show a mix of brown, tan, and small areas of pale off-white; the background is dark charcoal and the central object has small patches of muted gold and hints of faded green and bluish-gray.
