Two strips of red velvet sewn together, embroidered with large and smaller grape vines. Flat embroidery in blue and green silk thread and gold and silver metal thread. Ornament arrangement indicates fabric comes from a larger piece. Reverse: wool embroidery on canvas with geometric and floral motifs in green, red, and black. 18th century, Poland. Fabrics; length 46 cm, width 18 cm., A rectangular textile panel with a rich red background featuring an embroidered repeating vine motif; the embroidery includes leafy shapes in shades of green and yellow, clustered scale-like elements in pale blue and off-white, and swirling stems and outlines in a metallic gold tone, with the red velvet showing variations in texture and sheen against a neutral gray backdrop.
