Fragment of bobbin lace, 18th century, Flanders; width 9 cm, length 51 cm; subject: lace; maker, provenance includes repossession; place: Henryków German: Heinrichau., A long narrow strip of openwork lace laid flat against a solid muted gray background, the lace appearing off-white to cream with a delicate, airy texture and an intricate repeating floral-like motif visible across its length, surrounded by a fine netted ground; one end of the lace has a small cluster of tags attached with thin strings in pale beige and light green hues, and the lace edges are slightly irregular with subtle scalloping and fine threadwork.
