Lace fragment, bobbin lace Malines/Mechelen, 18th century. Plant ornaments: floral branches grow in the bends of a ribbon with tendrils; straight edges; bottom edge has two trails repeating the tendril motif schematically. Various mesh backgrounds. Side edges folded and hemmed. Dimensions: width 11 cm, length 72.5 cm., A horizontal strip of delicate lace in off-white or cream stretches across a neutral gray background, featuring an intricate openwork pattern with floral and leafy motifs, a few curved vine-like shapes, and several small circular voids within the mesh; the lower edge shows layered bands of denser lacework with repeating geometric scalloped details, while the texture throughout appears fine and threadlike with subtle variations in thickness and occasional tiny irregularities.
