Church napkin. Blue silk rep cloth embroidered with gold thread. In the center, within a radiant halo, a sun with an inscription in Polish: THE BLOOD OF OUR LORD JESUS IS CHRIST, WHICH PURIFIES US FROM ALL SIN. Corners bear stylized Eastern-style bouquets of flowers, crescents, and stars; similar bouquets at the midpoints of each edge. Along the edges, an inscription in Polish: NOT WITH GOLD, NOT WITH SILVER, NOT WITH THINGS CONTAMINATED, WE REDEEMED YESTESMI, BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, THE UNDAMAGED LAMB. Resplendent fabric density: 36 weft threads and 29–32 warp threads per cm. One workshop edge preserved, the other cut. Embroidery with gold thread on a yellow silk ground laid stitches, stitched with yellow silk thread. 17th/18th century, Poland. Height 67.5 cm, width 57 cm., A rectangular fabric with a pale blue background features golden embroidered decorative elements including a large central sun with radiating rays, several crescent moon shapes, and multiple stylized stars or sunbursts, along with ornamental floral motifs near the corners; a horizontal pale blue band crosses the middle, partially covering the central sun; the edges of the fabric show a border with golden embroidery; the visible colors are pale blue and gold, with small darker spots and slight variations in the blue tone.
