Church napkin, Church paraments; flowers; leaves; plant ornaments; sacred art. Napkin of white silk fabric embroidered with single projections of large flowers and fruit. Trimmed with silk braid with short shreds. Plain weave fabric, density 34 weft × 34 warp threads per cm, two workshop edges preserved, piece width 45 cm. Flat, pierced embroidery with colored silk threads — a thread of one color penetrates a row of threads of another color creating shaded transitions. Embroidery with gold thread around petals of peonies, irises, and tulips. Colors subdued but not faded: burgundy, multiple blues, cream, beige, ochre, green, light yellow-green, gold. Compared to a related napkin, colors are less bright and embroidery more detailed; napkin also appears earlier. Early 18th century, Poland. Height 42.5 cm, width 45 cm., A square textile with a fringe border in a golden brown color lies flat against a light gray background; the central field of the textile is a pale beige or cream tone embroidered with a repeating floral motif in soft blues, muted yellows, faded greens, and dusty pinks, including several large stylized blue flowers, a few yellow blossoms, and a group of small pink rose-like flowers; a narrow green inner border runs near the edge, and the outer edge is trimmed with a textured golden fringe; the fabric shows subtle discoloration and faint stains in places and the embroidered floral elements are arranged symmetrically across the surface.
