Church napkin made of white batiste density: 31 warp and weft threads per 1 cm, embroidered with gold thread and black silk with small motifs of carnation flowers and cypress, edged with serrations. Chain stitch embroidery, both with silk and gold thread, pierced, single-sided. The embroidery could have been executed on a hoop with a special needle; if so, it would be dated to the 2nd half of the 14th century. Dated 16th/17th century alternative attribution 17th century. Height 84.5 cm, width 90 cm., A square piece of fabric with a pale cream background and a decorative dark gold scalloped border, the main field patterned with a scattered arrangement of small floral motifs in shades of dark brown and muted gold, showing a central vertical seam and subtle creases and wear across the surface, with the scalloped border forming triangular points at the corners and along the edges against a light neutral backdrop.
