Church napkin made of thin white linen batiste edged with multicoloured embroidery. Ornament composed of large projections of stylized Eastern-style flower and fruit sprigs. Embroidered with very fine stitches along the lines of the drawing with silk thread: light celadon, light blue, turquoise, yellow-ochre, pink, burgundy, blue, dark beige, and gold thread. Embroidered motifs are arranged around the edges. The center is plain. Alternating motifs: a tulip flower in cross-section creating a stylized palmette, and a pomegranate branch with a leaf, inside which is a floral sprig. In the corners, tulips-palmettes are arranged diagonally. Around the edges, a pattern is embroidered with light turquoise thread in a double duct. Double-sided embroidery, executed with silk yarn and metal-braided thread with a silk core, flat, pierced stitches: satin. Length of individual stitches approx. 2 mm. Density: 27 w/23 o per 1 cm2. Date: approx. 1686. Origin: Poland. Materials: fabrics. Dimensions: length 203 cm, width 68 cm., A rectangular off-white fabric laid flat with a decorative border of repeating floral and leaf motifs around the edges; the motifs include teardrop-shaped flower forms and small round flower buds connected by short stems, rendered in colors including green, red, pink, blue, and gold, with the interior area of the fabric mostly plain and showing subtle creases and faint discoloration in pale brown tones.
