Lace fragment, Plant ornaments, Louis XVI style. At the lower edge there are two trails of fine tendrils, and between them a net with issgrond, mesh. Above, a net with drochelle mesh, on it projections of leafy branches. Contours of motifs reinforced with thread. Late 18th century, Mechelen. Malines lace. Lace, width 7.5 cm, length 146 cm., A horizontal strip of delicate lace in off-white stretched across a smooth gray background, featuring a netted upper field with a row of small ornamental motifs and a lower scalloped border with an ornate floral-like embroidered pattern, the lace showing fine openwork, looping threads, and a small area with a darker ochre discoloration near the bottom edge.
