Lace fragment, lace, Edge ornament on one side - a kind of net with numerous loops, small round and slightly larger oval ones, into which small twigs are woven. Above the edge ornament, against the netting background, in regular projections alternate: a twig and a round point. 18th–19th century, France; materials: lace, fabric; width 8.5 cm, length 408 cm., A length of delicate lace with a hexagonal net background in an off-white or cream color laid across a flat gray surface; the lace features a pattern of small floral motifs made from looped thread scattered across the net, a scalloped lower edge with a more densely worked band of looping and oval designs, and a gently scalloped top edge with tiny looped accents, showing texture and fine threadwork in cream against gray.
