Lace fragment, Plant ornaments and plant tendril; contours of flowers and leaves executed in relief. Almost no joints. Straight edges finished with serrations and picots. Imitation of 17th-century Venetian lace. Probably a cuff. 2nd half of the 17th century, Venice. Lace, height 36 cm, width 15 cm., A rectangular piece of openwork lace with an intricate floral and scroll pattern laid flat on a smooth background; the lace is an off-white or cream color with raised embroidered outlines and textured fill areas forming a dense network of flowers, leaves, loops, and curving stems, while the background is a uniform gray that contrasts with the lighter lace.
